GALAXY

1) Why is the advert set in the 1950s? What audience pleasure does this provide?
    This gives a nostalgic feel to it so an older audience is satisfied and remember the good old days.

2) Which of Propp's character types are represented in the advert? (Note: just choose two or three character types that are definitely used in the advert - it does not use them all).

Hero=Chauffeur
Princess=Audrey Hepburn
Villain=Fruit stall guy
Sidekick=car
Donor=bus driver

3) How does the advert's narrative (story) follow Todorov's theory of equilibrium?
  The equilibrium is fine, but the there is a disequilibrium as the fruit stall has halted the bus and caused traffic, until the chauffeur offer her a ride and so there is a new equilibrium.

4) Who is Audrey Hepburn?
   Audrey Hepburn was a British actress and humanitarian. Recognised as both a film and fashion icon, she was ranked by the American Film Institute as the third-greatest female screen legend from the Golden Age of Hollywood, and was inducted into the International Best Dressed List Hall of Fame.

5) Why did Galaxy select Audrey Hepburn for this advert?
Creates a feeling of nostalgia "good times"

6) What is intertextuality?
when 2 different types of media link/come together to make a new media type.

7) What Audrey Hepburn film is suggested in this advert and how is this effect created (e.g. mise-en-scene - CLAMPS: costume, lighting, actors, make-up, props, setting)?
 It is referring to roman holiday as it is filmed at the mafia coast with the scenic area of Rome, which is referenced by the country

They utilised "Roman Holiday" and this was made by shooting at the amalfi coast, a picturesque location in Italy. Moreover, the use of the fruit stall references this as fruit stands aren't very common within the Uk and there's also a scene in roman holiday where a fruit stall has been tipped over and thus there's bus which cannot move, so it references this circumstance.
8) What are the connotations of Audrey Hepburn and celebrity in this advert?

9) What representations of gender can you find in this advert?
  A representation of gender you can see is that the female needs to be saved by the guy which follws propps character theory
10) Are stereotypes reinforced or subverted in the Galaxy advert? Give examples.

Steryotypes are reinforced as audrey hepburn is being saved from the bus by the chauffer as he allows her to continue her jouney.

 Women can do anything as women are typically considered very fragile and feminine but in the ad there are females as pro boxers so in that way it subverts stereotypes.

9) How does the advert reinforce certain stereotypes of the BAME community? Could there be an oppositional reading where some audiences would find this advert offensive or reinforcing negative stereotypes?

This reinforces stereotypes because black and Asian  people are thriving in every avenue apart from blood donation, and this significant as black and Asian people hove special blood
