launched in 2015 and its a free live streaming global radio station, which often focuses on indie and rap.

3) What is the difference between Beats 1 Radio, iTunes and Apple Music?
radio 1 is more of a podcast then a traditional talk show, so it interests a younger audience, and also
4) Why was Apple so keen to enter the online music world and compete with Spotify, Deezer and Amazon Music (and others)? to make more revenue, and because apple is a world renowned company, they know it will be somewhat successful.

5) Why did Apple choose the three selected DJs for launch?
they are from different countries across the world, so they get a larger audience.

her interviews are much more laid back, and more like podcasts, as it just seems like a casual talk between her and the artist.

8) Why does Beats 1 radio give Apple the power to make or break new artists? Is this a good thing or a bad thing for the music industry? Beats has a large audience, and so if they play a small artist, the audience may like them, and they might listen, stream, and maybe even purchase their songs.

9) Read the BBC feature on the launch of Apple Beats 1 Radio. Did the industry experts think it would be a success? Why?
Experts thought it would be a success as apple is a trillion dollar company, so they can put a lot of money into it, and potentially get more guests, which would in turn get more views/streams.
10) Give arguments for and against the idea that Beats 1 will be a threat to traditional media industries (e.g. radio stations, record shops, online music retailers etc.) beats can be a threat to traditional media as it offers all the same services as regular radio, but more specialised as there are djs who recommend the best music for that specific genre.

Audience

1) Who is the target audience for Beats1 and Julia Adenuga in particular? Refer to demographics and psychographics.
the target audience is mainly young people, however because they have 3 DJs from different backgrounds and and places in the world, so there is a larger audience.

2) Why do people listen to Beats1? Which aspects of Blumler and Katz’s Uses and Gratifications theory relate to Beats 1 and its audience?
diversion and entertainment would be the main one as the DJs are playing music to chill to and thru also interact with the audience

3) Can the audience actively interact with the Apple Beats 1 Radio or are they passive when listening? How? Give examples. They can be both interactive and passive as the audience can easily tweet @ them or they can send messages to recommend songs to play, however they just want to listen and relax, they can easily do that.

Is Apple Beats 1 aimed at a mass or niche audience? How does this differ to BBC Radio 1?
Its aimed at a mass audience because its made by apple, which are the first trillion dollar company, and they are worldly renowned, which gains a larger audience.
